Halloween pumpkin-smashing day at the Five Points Community Garden with a broom-making demonstration, fire cider tasting, live music and s'mores.
Pumpkin Smash Bash takes over the Five Points Community Garden on Sunday, November 8, from 12 PM to 2 PM. The premise is simple: bring your jack-o'-lanterns and smash them with a baseball bat. It's a hands-on lesson in composting, as the Five Points Farm team turns the pumpkin guts into nutrient-rich compost for the garden. The day is organized by Downtown ATL as part of Downtown Day 2026.
There's more to do than just breaking pumpkins. Chelsea Townsend will be there for a broom-making demonstration, and Maya will be leading a fire cider demonstration and tasting. Live music runs through the afternoon, and s'mores are served around a biochar fire pit. If you're coming with kids, the smashing is the main draw, but the demonstrations give you something to hang around for between rounds.

The garden is at 203 Forsyth St SW in downtown Atlanta. If you're driving, free parking is provided at the Forsyth Street and Garnett Street lot by Park Place, which makes getting in and out a lot easier than hunting for a spot on the street. The whole thing runs from 12 PM to 2 PM on Sunday, November 8.
