Monthly gathering of the Atlanta Photography Group where members share and discuss photobooks at the APG Gallery.
Photo Book Saturday returns to the Atlanta Photography Group on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a recurring gathering held on the fourth Saturday of every month at the APG Gallery, so if you miss this one, there's another one coming around a few weeks later.
The format is simple: members are invited to bring along a favorite photobook to show fellow members, or just to see what their peers find stimulating, inspiring, or innovative in photography today. It's less of a formal presentation and more of a low-pressure way to connect, catch up, and share with the community. You might bring a book you've owned for years, something you just picked up, or a rare find you're excited to show off. The whole point is to get people talking about what they're reading and seeing, and to get a sense of what's moving the needle for other photographers in the city.
If you've been looking for a way to get more involved with the local photography scene without committing to a full class or a long-term project, this is a good place to start. It's a morning session, so it doesn't eat up your whole weekend, and the focus is on the books rather than on anyone's own portfolio, which takes the pressure off if you're not in a place where you want to be critiqued. You'll spend the two hours flipping through pages and chatting with other members about why a particular book works, who's behind it, and what it's teaching you about the medium.
