21+ rock and punk night with Pentagram String Band, folk-punk act Doom Scroll and The Muckers at 529 in East Atlanta Village.
Pentagram String Band headlines 529 on Wednesday, October 28, with Doom Scroll and The Muckers filling out the bill. It's a three-band night in East Atlanta Village, and the styles on the stage shift pretty sharply from one set to the next.
Doom Scroll is the folk-punk act of the evening. They describe themselves as throwing their "patch-covered, frayed-edged hat in the ring of musical supergroups representing all things folk punk," so you've got a good idea of where they sit: acoustic-leaning, probably a bit ragged around the edges, and firmly in that folk-punk tradition. The Muckers, on the other hand, are a four-piece garage rock and indie band. They're coming in from New York, and NME once called them "one of New York's most exciting new bands," which puts them in the louder, electric side of the night.
Between the folk-punk of Doom Scroll and the garage rock of The Muckers, the bill covers a fair bit of ground. Pentagram String Band holds the center, and with three bands on the bill, you'll get a full evening of music rather than a single set. The show is 21+, so keep that in mind before you head out.
