18+ night of rock and punk with Frankensteen, Eureka Failure, Smoochyface and Hot Wives at 529.
Frankensteen headlines a four-band bill at 529 on Thursday, October 29, with Eureka Failure, Smoochyface, and Hot Wives filling out the rest of the night. It's a rock and punk lineup, so you've got a few different sounds to work through before the headliner takes the stage.
Eureka Failure is fronted by members of the indie-rock band The Heavy Florist and the electro-pop-rock band Pink Pompeii. They describe their sound as a mix of an irreverent sense of humor and an affection for 1980s music, putting a fresh spin on the post-punk synth pop of The Cars generation. If you're into that era of keyboard-driven rock, that's where they sit.
Hot Wives bring a different energy to the bill. Their first EP, The Soundtrack To A Speeding Ticket, is a collection of distorted rock and garage songs, and their first release, This Man Refused To Open His Eyes, gathers six songs full of angst, frustration, and revenge. Between the two, you get a good sense of where they're coming from: garage rock with a bit of a chip on its shoulder.
