3.1-mile road race to run, walk or vibe through with live music along the course and a finisher's medal and drink voucher at the post-race party.
Miche 5K comes to Piedmont Park on Sunday, October 18, and it's not your typical road race. The whole thing is 3.1 miles, and the organizers describe it as something you run, walk, or just vibe through, with live music along the course and groups of people joining in rather than a straight push for a personal best. If you're not the type to obsess over a chip time, that's the point here.
Crossing the finish line gets you two things: a finisher's medal and a drink voucher for a michelada or a miche-nada, the non-alcoholic version. Once the running is done, the party keeps going with the post-race celebration they call la reventón. Registration includes your official race bib and a Miche 5K shirt, so you'll have the gear sorted before you even show up.
There's room for the whole crew, too. Strollers are allowed on the course, though they start in the last corral, and pets are welcome on the Ascarate Park grounds as long as they're on a leash—just keep them off the course itself. Spectators are welcome to come out and watch, so if you'd rather cheer from the sidelines than run the distance, you can still be part of it.
