Seminar by Rachel Kinsella, PhD, in the MBD x Biology series of the Molecular Basis of Disease program at Georgia State University.
Rachel Kinsella, PhD, will be presenting at PSC 124 on Friday, November 20, as part of the MBD x Biology Seminar series. The talk runs from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Georgia State University, in the Petit Science Center at 417 Petit Science Center, 100 Piedmont Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
The seminar is hosted by the Molecular Basis of Disease (MBD) program, which is an interdisciplinary computational biomedicine initiative that pulls together six different departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Neuroscience, and Physics and Astronomy. It's a broad reach for one program, and that cross-departmental approach is exactly what the MBD x Biology series is built around—bringing researchers together to look at the molecular mechanisms of disease and push forward biomedical discovery and collaborative science.
Beyond the seminars, MBD provides training in the molecular sciences for pre-doctoral candidates, undergraduate students, and high school juniors and seniors, with paid research fellowships that include a PhD Fellowship and a Summer Undergrad Research Fellowship. The program has recorded four consecutive years of research awards exceeding $100 million, so there's a significant amount of active research happening behind the scenes. This particular talk is one of the ways that work gets shared and discussed in a public setting.
