Kerry Kennedy, author of 'Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy', in conversation with Pat Mitchell as part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series.
Kerry Kennedy will be at McElreath Hall on Tuesday, Oct 20, at 7 PM for a conversation with Pat Mitchell. It's part of the Atlanta History Center's Author Talks series, which pairs writers with readers in discussions about life and literature.
Kennedy is a human rights lawyer, activist, and New York Times bestselling author, the daughter of Ethel Skakel Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. She's the president of the Robert and Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center, which Ethel founded in 1968, and a former chair of the Amnesty International USA Leadership Council. The conversation centers on her book, Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy, which she co-wrote with Maryanne Vollers. The book includes 24 pages of color photographs.
The talk draws on Kennedy's own memories, her family's recollections, and her mother's private papers to trace Ethel's journey from a working-class Chicago background through her courtship of RFK and her life at the family properties in Hyannis Port and Hickory Hill. It also covers her lifelong commitment to global human rights. Moderating the evening is Pat Mitchell, a co-founder of Project Dandelion and TEDWomen, former president of PBS and CNN Productions, and editorial director of TEDWomen.
