A professional dialogue on heirs' property and tangled titles featuring presentations, a fireside chat, and a networking reception.
Heirs' Property/Tangled Titles: What Comes Next for Data, Policy, and Practice comes to the Marjorie & Ralph Knowles Conference Center at the Georgia State University College of Law on Wednesday, October 21. It's a dialogue on heirs' property and tangled titles—the kind of legal knots that can undermine housing stability, land ownership, and economic opportunity for families over generations.
The afternoon kicks off with presentations from Auburn University and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, bringing together emerging research on state policies, data, and strategies for tackling these challenges. After that, the focus shifts to a fireside chat between Sarah Stein, director of the FHLBank Atlanta Heirs' Property Law Clinic at Georgia State University, and Rachael Gallegos, a divisional supervising attorney at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia. It's a conversation between a clinician and a supervising attorney about what this research actually means on the ground, where policy meets real-world practice.
The whole thing is hosted by the FHLBank Atlanta Heirs' Property Law Clinic at Georgia State University together with The Pew Charitable Trusts, and it wraps up with a networking reception. If you've spent any time thinking about land rights, housing stability, or how policy affects actual families, this is exactly the kind of room you want to be in.
