Free admission to contemporary art exhibits at Atlanta Contemporary in west Midtown.
Atlanta Contemporary has free admission to its contemporary art exhibits this week, with the galleries open on Thursday, October 22, from 12 PM to 8 PM, and again on Sunday, October 25, from 12 PM to 4 PM. It's in west Midtown, so if you're already out that way, it's an easy stop. The Thursday hours run late enough that you can swing by after work and still have plenty of time to walk through.
Contemporary art can be a bit of a gamble—you might walk into a room and see something you love, or something that leaves you scratching your head—but that's half the point. The exhibits at Atlanta Contemporary change over time, so if you've been before, there's a good chance you'll find something new to look at. It's the kind of place where you can spend twenty minutes on one piece or breeze through the whole thing in half an hour, depending on how much you're feeling it.
Since it's free, there's no real pressure. You don't have to commit to a whole afternoon; you can just pop in for a bit and see what's on the walls. If you're into the local art scene, it's a good way to keep up with what's being shown in the city without having to plan a whole day around it.
