Free exhibition of functional, decorative and sculptural ceramics by the Ceramics Residency Program artists at Callanwolde, with an opening reception.
The Fall Ceramics Show opens at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center on Thursday, October 22, and runs through Sunday, October 25. It's put on by Callanwolde's Ceramics Residency Program, which runs a pottery studio staffed by resident artists and instructors—the same people whose work you'll see on the walls. The show brings together functional, decorative, and sculptural ceramics, and everything on view is for sale.
This year's edition spotlights resident artist Doug Tobin, whose work takes center stage alongside a wide range of other local makers. The lineup includes James Delevett, Chad Dittmer, Kellsey Hook, Abbey Hull, Kate Pak, and Ginger Vento, plus Ceramics Program Director John Roberts and the Callanwolde instructors. Between the functional pieces you could actually use and the more sculptural, decorative work, there's a lot of ground covered in one room.
If you want to hear from the artists themselves, there are two talks scheduled: Friday, October 23, from 10 AM to 11 AM, and Saturday, October 24, from 2 PM to 3 PM. The show opens with a reception on Thursday evening from 6 PM to 9 PM, and the gallery stays open Friday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Entry is free.

One thing to keep in mind is that the show runs alongside 'Jazz on the Lawn,' Callanwolde's long-running tradition of live music under the stars on the estate grounds. If you're planning to spend a few days there, you can swing by the gallery during the day and catch some music in the evening. The center is at 980 Briarcliff Rd. N.E., Atlanta, GA 30306.
