Free curator talk led by Maria L. Kelly, Assistant Curator of Photography at the High Museum, on the work of Minor White, Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan.
Atlanta Photography Group is hosting a curator talk on Friday, December 4, at the High Museum. The session is titled Photography as a Way of Life: Minor White, Aaron Siskind, and Harry Callahan, and it centers on three photographers who each approached the medium as more than just a way to make images.
White, Siskind, and Callahan are the focus here. They all worked during the mid-twentieth century, and while their styles differed, they shared a common thread: they treated photography as a lifelong practice, a way of seeing and being in the world rather than a set of separate assignments. The talk looks at their work through that lens, treating photography as a way of life.
Maria L. Kelly, the High Museum's assistant curator of photography, will lead the conversation. She's the one who'll be walking through the work and connecting the three photographers, so you're getting the perspective of someone who works with this material every day.
