In-person photography critique session moderated by Barbara Griffin, where members present and receive feedback on their work.
Critique Classique returns to the Atlanta Photography Group gallery on Sunday, October 18, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM. It's the APG's longest-running program, and these days it's held in person. The whole thing is built around the idea that critique is a big part of how an artist grows—getting feedback, seeing different points of view, reflecting on your own work, and building a bit of resilience along the way. It's as much about the community as it is about the photos.
Each session runs for two and a half hours, with a 10-to-15-minute break in the middle. There are a maximum of eight presenter slots, and each person can show up to eight images. Physical prints are preferred, though digital work is shown on a large screen. If you're presenting, that's your window to get a room's worth of eyes on your work; if you're just watching, you get to see a handful of different photographers lay out their latest projects in one afternoon.
Moderating this session is Barbara Griffin, a creative director, producer, and photo editor who co-presides with Julie Hall over GriffinHall Productions. Her agency has produced photography for some of the biggest names in the business—Sony, CNN, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, Turner Sports, and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. In 2021, the Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers named her an Associate Member.
