Family Halloween festival with trick-or-treating, carnival games, strolling characters and themed entertainment at Zoo Atlanta.
Boo at the Zoo is back at Zoo Atlanta this October, running across two full weekends plus Halloween itself. It's one of the city's go-to family Halloween festivals, and the Zoo describes it as a merry-not-scary event, so it's built for the little ones rather than for scares. The festival is presented by Georgia Natural Gas, with support from Kaiser Permanente and pumpkin sponsors Carter's, The Coca-Cola Company, and Huntington Bank.
Most people come for Trick-or-Treat Lane, where the kids can fill their bags, but there's plenty to do once the candy is sorted. You'll find themed crafts, carnival games, and family-friendly performances over at the Zambezi Elephant Center. Costumed characters stroll through the grounds, and there are themed photo sets for the inevitable family pictures. Costumes are encouraged, though you don't have to wear one to join in. One detail that fits the Zoo's mission: the candy handed out contains sustainable palm oil or no palm oil at all, in line with their wildlife conservation commitment.

If you're looking for something for the adults, the Zoo also promotes Brew at the Zoo and Sippin' Safari, alongside their usual wildlife presentations and up-close animal encounters. The festival runs rain or shine, though rain can delay or cancel some of the activities. The dates are October 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31, from 9 AM to 4 PM each day. It's free for Zoo Atlanta members and children under 3, and free with general admission for everyone else. You can find the Zoo at 800 Cherokee Ave in Atlanta.
