British author and conservationist Isabella Tree discusses her book The Book of Wilding, with lecture, book signing and reception.
Isabella Tree comes to McElreath Hall at the Atlanta History Center on Wednesday, October 21, for a lecture, book signing, and reception. The evening is built around her latest book, The Book of Wilding: A Practical Guide to Rewilding Big and Small, which she co-authored with Charlie Burrell and published through Bloomsbury in 2023. It was a Sunday Times bestseller and served as the inspiration for the 2024 UK documentary Wilding.
Tree is an award-winning British journalist and conservationist who has written six non-fiction books. This one follows her earlier bestseller, Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British Farm (Picador, 2018), which chronicled a pioneering rewilding project in West Sussex. That book sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, was translated into eight languages, and made the Smithsonian's top ten science books of 2018. While the first book focused on a specific project, The Book of Wilding is a practical guide to the process on scales both big and small.
The talk is part of the Ashley Wright McIntyre Lecture Series at the Cherokee Garden Library, which is housed within the Atlanta History Center's Kenan Research Center. The library was founded in 1975 by the Cherokee Garden Club of Atlanta, and the lecture series is made possible by the Ashley Wright McIntyre Education and Programming Fund.
