Actor's Express presents: i never asked for a gofundme

Actor's Express is bringing the world premiere of i never asked for a gofundme to the Actor's Express Theatre Company on Thursday, October 22. It's a comedy that starts with a trip home and quickly spirals into something much louder.

The story follows Millie and her partner, Avery, as they head back to Millie's hometown of Mobile, Alabama. Avery is recovering from gender-affirming top surgery, and the trip is meant to be a quiet return. That changes when a nosy, evangelical family friend mistakes the surgery for breast cancer and launches a GoFundMe for the couple. The campaign takes off, thrusting them into the center of small-town gossip and a flood of donations they never asked for. From there, the play asks if being unapologetically yourself comes with a price tag.

It's a world premiere, so this is the first time the show is getting its run. The whole thing plays out at the Actor's Express Theatre Company, located at 887 West Marietta St NW, Suite J-107, in Atlanta. The curtain goes up at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 22, and tickets are $56.65.
