Movement-led choral piece of dance, text and original music by Al Seed Productions, a Scottish tour stop of DanceLive 2026.
Al Seed Productions bring Thrice to The Anatomy Rooms on Monday 19 October, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. It's a movement-led, choral piece of dance, text and original music, and it's a response to Shakespeare's Macbeth.
Rather than a conventional play, Thrice is a ritual. It's led by a chorus of nine women in three trios, who remain in the aftermath of the play's bloodshed. It's a piece that leads with image and feeling over plot, unfolding as a visual and sonic journey of dance, text and original music. Text from Macbeth, once spoken by soldiers and tyrants, is absorbed and transformed by the witches who haunt the play's edges. From there, the work asks what it means to live on in the shadow of ruin, while challenging the legacy of persecution attached to the word 'witch'.
Behind it are two names from very different backgrounds. Al Seed is a Scottish theatre-maker and one of the UK's most distinctive voices in visual and physical theatre. The choreography comes from Lina Limosani, an acclaimed Australian dancer, director and choreographer who was an original member of Australian Dance Theatre. Together they've directed the piece, with Limosani taking the lead on the movement.
