Free pre-festival sharing session where participants from the Something Different collaborative dance and music-making workshop present short performance sketches.
Something Different Sharing is at The Anatomy Rooms on Wednesday 21 October, from 4pm to 5pm. It's a pre-festival session that brings together participants from the Something Different collaborative dance and music-making workshop, led by sound artist Bill Thompson and choreographer Penny Chivas. Rather than a polished concert, they'll be presenting a series of short, informal performance sketches — a glimpse into three days of experimentation, creativity and artistic exchange.
The whole thing is organised by soundfestival in association with Citymoves, with support from the Creative Scotland Expanded Festivals fund. That funding backs Connect: DanceLive, a project bridging Citymoves' DanceLive festival of dance and soundfestival of new music across 2026 and 2027, so this sharing sits right at the intersection of the two.
The venue itself is worth a mention if you haven't been: The Anatomy Rooms is a new art and design studio facility in Aberdeen city centre, housing twenty practitioners across private, shared and open-plan spaces. It's run jointly by Citymoves and the University of Aberdeen as a centre for creative engagement, critical discourse and knowledge transfer, and it keeps an open-door policy. This particular session takes place in the Anatomy Library.
