Public screening of the film 'The People's Emergency Briefing' with UK scientists on the climate and nature crisis, followed by an open discussion, hosted by the Green Library Group.
The Sir Duncan Rice Library is hosting a screening of The People's Emergency Briefing on Wednesday 21 October, from 18:00 to 19:30. It's running in The Craig Suite on the seventh floor, and the whole thing is put on by the Green Library Group as part of Green Libraries Week.
The film itself runs for 50 minutes and brings together nine leading UK scientists and experts who update on the climate and nature crisis and how it's hitting everyday national life. They cover extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living, so it's less about abstract global figures and more about the things that actually touch on home. Once the film finishes, there's a short open discussion, so you'll have a bit of time to talk through what you've just seen rather than just heading straight out into the night.
There's a bit of history to it, too: the film is based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, which was covered by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times. This screening brings that briefing to Aberdeen, with the Green Library Group hosting it as part of Green Libraries Week. It's aimed at ages 16 and over.
