Weekly Wednesday lunchtime talks held in the Art Gallery's Seminar Room and the Maritime Museum's Education Suite, with no booking and a pay-what-you-can door policy.
Lunchtime Talks run as a weekly series on Wednesdays in Aberdeen, with sessions starting at 12:30 and running for 45 minutes. They alternate between two venues: the Aberdeen Art Gallery in the Seminar Room and the Aberdeen Maritime Museum in the Education Suite. There's no booking needed, and the door policy is pay-what-you-can, so you just turn up and give what you're able to.
If you're heading to the Maritime Museum, it's worth taking a moment to look around. It sits on Shiprow, a street first mentioned in documents in 1281 that was once one of the city's most important thoroughfares. The museum incorporates Provost Ross's House, built in 1593, and its main claim to uniqueness is its display on the North Sea oil and gas industry — the only one of its kind in the UK. Just nearby is the Tolbooth Museum, one of Aberdeen's oldest buildings and one of the best-preserved 17th-century gaols in Scotland, built between 1616 and 1629.
