Talk by Shona Elliott, lead curator at Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums, on works on paper that capture Aberdeen's energy landscape.
Shona Elliott is giving a talk at Aberdeen Art Gallery on Wednesday 4 November, from 12.30pm to 1.15pm. She's the Lead Curator at Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums, and the session is built around the museum's own collection of works on paper.
The talk goes alongside Works on Paper: Art and Energy, an exhibition that runs from 18 October 2026 to 14 March 2027. It pulls together drawings, prints and photographs from the museum's archives that capture Aberdeen's energy landscape — bold 1970s drawings and prints sitting alongside powerful photographs. Elliott will be talking through these pieces, and the exhibition also brings out rarely seen images of earlier energy scenes in the city, so there's a fair bit of local history to pick through.
It's the second in a series of annual displays highlighting the depth and diversity of the Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums' collection of works on paper, so if you've followed the previous one, this is the next instalment. The exhibition stays open well after the talk, so you can see the work for yourself before or after.
