Work-in-progress dance, physical theatre and video piece by Sharon Took-Zozaya inspired by the sandstone formations of the Moray Coast, closing DanceLive 2026.
Sharon Took-Zozaya brings Everything That's Still Is Preparing To Move to Aberdeen Art Gallery on Monday 19 October. It's a work-in-progress that pulls together dance, physical theatre and video, and it's the closing act of DanceLive 2026, the festival's 20th anniversary edition. The festival has been spread across The Anatomy Rooms, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Cowdray Hall and Bon Accord Baths, bringing together international companies alongside Scottish work.
Everything That's Still Is Preparing To Move comes out of place-based research and development on the Moray Coast and at Citymoves, and Took-Zozaya describes it as being inspired by the architectural qualities of the sandstone formations at Hopeman. That coastal landscape sits at the heart of the piece, so the work is as much about a specific stretch of the coast as it is about the movement on stage.
Took-Zozaya isn't doing this alone. The sound is by Quee MacArthur, the video by Lorenz Gramann, and the dancing by Alex Mulcahy, Laura Booth, Sara Schena and Took-Zozaya herself. It's a work-in-progress, which means you're seeing it while it's still being shaped rather than as a finished, polished production.

The afternoon is split into two parts. It starts in the Remembrance Hall with live dance from 15:30 to 15:45, and then moves to the Seminar Room from 15:45 to 16:30 for a film, excerpts and a chat with the director. If you're coming for the dance, you'll get that in the first fifteen minutes; if you want to hear how it all came together, the second half is where that happens.
