Energetic, family-friendly dance piece by Vince Virr with circus lifts, part of DanceLive 2026.
Yangled comes to The Sculpture Court at Aberdeen Art Gallery on Saturday 17 October, with two performances that day at 11:00 and 14:30. It's a family-friendly dance piece by dancer-choreographer Vince Virr, performed by three dancers who bring some jaw-dropping circus lifts to the stage. The whole thing is built around Virr's distinctive, accessible style, and it's set to an enigmatic soundtrack by Luke Sutherland, with colourfully explosive costumes by Alison Brown. The dancers work through urban spaces, turning them into places of pride and connection.
It's part of DanceLive 2026, the festival's 20th anniversary edition, which runs from 15 to 19 October across The Anatomy Rooms, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Cowdray Hall and Bon Accord Baths. That's five days of dance spread across four different venues, so if you're around that week, there's plenty to choose from beyond just this one show. Yangled is one of several pieces in the programme, and with two timings on the 17th, you can pick the one that fits your day best.

Since it's family-friendly, it's a good one to bring the kids along to, and the circus lifts are the kind of thing that'll keep them watching. The Sculpture Court is a great spot for it, tooβa bright, open space that lets the movement and those costumes really stand out. If you're already planning to be at the Gallery that day, you can easily slot it in around other things. Just keep in mind the two separate times: 11:00 for the morning crowd and 14:30 for the afternoon.
