Exhibition of hand-painted terracotta tiles by ceramic artist Amy Benzie, exploring what fire does to clay, at The Suttie Arts Space.
Amy Benzie's exhibition 1250° is open at The Suttie Arts Space in Aberdeen from 16 October 2026 to 10 January 2027. It's a long run, so there's plenty of time to catch it if you can't make it in the first few weeks.
Benzie is a ceramic artist, and the show is an installation of hand-painted terracotta tiles. The title 1250° points to the temperature of the kiln, and the work itself is a record of what fire does to clay. It's that kind of thing you have to see in person to really get — the way the heat changes the material, the marks it leaves, and how the painting holds up against it. The tiles are arranged as an installation, so it's less about individual pieces and more about how they work together across the space.
The Suttie Arts Space is part of ARI Explore, inside the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The exhibition is brought to you by the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust, a charity that works to bring art into NHS Grampian and associated health and social care facilities. They've been programming exhibitions in the Small Gallery at ARI since 2013, and they welcome proposals all year round, so this is part of a long-running series of shows in the hospital.

Because it's inside the hospital, it's an easy one to slot into a visit if you're already there, and it stays open right through the winter, from mid-October to early January. If you're into ceramics or just fancy a quiet wander through some art while you're in the city, it's worth a look.
