A family-friendly horse racing day at York Racecourse with seven races, pony racing, and a children's entertainment zone featuring characters from The Gruffalo and Paw Patrol.
York Racecourse is hosting the YorkMix Family Raceday on Sunday 6 September, a day built around horse racing and a fair amount of stuff to keep kids occupied. There's a seven-race card running across the afternoon, so you've got the racing as the main event, but the day is designed to work even if you're not a racing fan.
Between the races, the YorkMix Entertainment Zone takes over with a range of activities: giant inflatables, Diggerland, a children's zoo, zorb football and face painting. There's also a Pony Racing Series, and a few familiar faces making appearances throughout the day — The Gruffalo, and Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol. If you're bringing the little ones, that's where they'll likely spend most of their time while the racing happens around them.

There are a few different ways to do the day depending on what you're after. The County Stand is £32, with an Early Bird price of £29.50 and a group rate of £28.50 for six or more. The Grandstand & Paddock is £17, with Early Bird and group rates both at £15. The Clocktower Enclosure is also £17. If you're looking for something more upmarket, the Melrose Club Lounge starts from £135 and the Premier Racing Lounge is £60. The County Stand keeps a relaxed dress code for the occasion, so there's no need to overthink what to wear. Seven races, the entertainment zone, and the character appearances — it's a full day out at the course.
