Third year of the board games convention, with a library of around 600 titles, activities and late-night hours, including a tabletop RPG area and independent traders.
The York Board Games Convention returns to St Peter's School in Clifton on 1 October, its third year since launching in 2024. It's become a bit of a fixture on the regional cultural calendar, and this edition is the biggest yet, with extended opening hours and a library of around 600 board games to borrow.
The library is the main draw, but there's plenty more to it. There's a tabletop RPG area called 'The Forge', facilitated sessions of Blood on the Clocktower, and a playtesting zone where local designers bring their latest work for people to try. You'll also find a bring-and-buy sale, independent traders, and giant games. Local food and drink will be on hand too, so you can stay through the day without having to head out for a break.
Two special guests are joining in this year: Ivan Brett and Wilfred Webster, both known from the TV show The Traitors. Event director Ryan puts the growth down to the community's response over the last two years, calling it the biggest gaming weekend York has ever seen.

It runs from 9 am to 11 pm at St Peter's School, Clifton, YO30 6AB, and entry is free for under-16s as long as they're accompanied by an adult.
