A weekend of wellbeing activities including yoga, sound baths, cacao ceremonies, and contrast therapy in the Castle Howard Arboretum.
Wellness Weekend runs from Saturday 29 August to Monday 31 August at the Castle Howard Arboretum, a 120-acre site in North Yorkshire. It's a few days of wellbeing activities set in the Arboretum, which was created in the 1970s and holds over 7,000 trees from around the world, along with lakes, woodland glades and wildflower meadows. The site is looked after by the Castle Howard Arboretum Trust, and since 2023 it's run a red squirrel breeding programme. There's also Ray Wood, known for its winding paths and botanical collection.
The yoga is spread across the three days, with a different teacher each morning: Victoria Chan on Saturday, Katie Walter on Sunday, and Dora Rubenstein on Monday, who brings circus arts and aerial work into her practice. Chan also runs Hotpod Yoga York. Beside that, there's 'Ice and Embers', a sauna session that pairs the heat with cold plunges for contrast therapy. The most immersive session is the 'Sound Bath and Cacao Ceremony' led by Lunar Rose Wellbeing, which combines a heart-opening ritual with ceremonial-grade cacao, Holy Fire Reiki guided meditation and a sound journey.
