A Christmas Carol adaptation by The Mixed Bag Players, performed at Acomb Parish Church Hall in York.
The Mixed Bag Players are bringing A Christmas Carol to Acomb Parish Church Hall this December, with three performances running from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12. It's a stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic, so you'll get the familiar story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghosts told live in a local hall rather than on a professional West End stage.
As the title suggests, the show is an adaptation of the novel, and it's The Mixed Bag Players who've put it together. They're a theatre company based here in the region, and this is their take on the story we all know — the miserly Scrooge, the three ghosts, and the eventual change of heart. It's a well-trodden piece of literature, but that's part of the appeal: it's a story that works as a Christmas tradition, and seeing it done by a local company gives it a different feel than a big-budget production.
One thing to keep in mind is that the company recommends the show for ages 10 and over, so it's more of a family outing than a little ones' matinee. If you're thinking of bringing the kids, that's the age to have in mind. The venue is Acomb Parish Church Hall on Front Street in Acomb, YO24 3JQ, which is easy enough to find if you're already in the area.

There are three nights to choose from, and they all start in the evening: Thursday 10, Friday 11, and Saturday 12 December. The Thursday and Friday shows both start at 7pm, while the Saturday performance is a bit later at 7.30pm. If you're planning your December, that gives you a few options to fit around your other plans.
