Magical mini golf challenge where every location competes for House Cup glory, with York representing House Serpent.
The House Cup kicks off at The Hole In Wand on 18 July, and it's a long-haul challenge that runs right through to 6 September. If you've been to the venue before, you know the drill: it's magical mini golf, so you're putting your way through a course that's a bit more fantastical than your average local green.
This time, though, there's a competitive edge to it. The House Cup is a challenge between five different locations, each representing one of the Five Houses, all vying for the same trophy. Here in York, we're playing for House Serpent. So when you're on the course, your score counts towards the York total, and the goal is to see which house comes out on top by the time the whole thing wraps up in early September.
It's listed as family-friendly, which makes it an easy one to bring the kids along to, and it sits in the activities and sports category, specifically under golf. Since it's a competition that stretches over several weeks, you've got plenty of time to get your score down rather than having to nail it in one go.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in York and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

The Hole In Wand is a commercial leisure centre, so it's a paid activity rather than a free one, though the exact price per round isn't listed. It runs from 18 July to 6 September, so you can fit it in whenever suits you over the summer.
