The Choir of Man plays at the Grand Opera House York from Tuesday 30 June to Saturday 4 July, a five-night run that brings the show to the city for the first time. It's a choral experience with choreography, described as a feel-good night of foot-stomping entertainment.
What sets it apart from a standard concert is how it works. The nine-strong cast — poets, dancers, musicians and singers — build a working pub right on stage, complete with a real bar and tapas. They don't just perform from the stage, either; they invite the audience up to drink and sing along with them. It's a live choral show that blends singing, dancing and live music, and it's as much about the pub atmosphere as it is about the singing.
The setlist pulls from popular music across folk, Broadway, rock and pop. You'll hear Queen, Luther Vandross, Sia, Paul Simon, Adele, Guns N' Roses, Avicii and Katy Perry. The show started at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe and has since played the West End, the Sydney Opera House and various tours across the US and Europe. It was created and directed by Nic Doodson and picked up an Olivier Award nomination in 2022 for Best Entertainment or Comedy.

It's a family show, recommended for ages 10 and up, so it works for a night out with kids as well as for a group of friends. Tickets start from £10, and the run goes from 30 June to 4 July at the Grand Opera House.
