A magical 10-point family trail inspired by the Gina Kaminski book series, with dressing up, creative play and meadow games.
Summer of Play is running at Nunnington Hall throughout the summer, with one of its dates on Saturday 18 July. It's a 10-point family trail that winds through the gardens and grounds, all based on illustrations from the Gina Kaminski book series. The whole thing is built around a few of the big fairytales we all know, so it's the kind of thing you can do with kids without needing to explain the plot first.
As you make your way around, you'll come across different stations tied to different stories. You'll help the Three Little Pigs build stronger houses, race Cinderella's carriage, join Robin Hood's band for archery practice, sort Snow White's apples, follow Hansel and Gretel's breadcrumbs, and hunt for the Frog Prince. It's not just about walking from one to the next, either: there's dressing up, creative play, and meadow games scattered along the way, and a Creative Hub with hands-on activities to stop at when you need a break from the trail.
The Pokémon Company International has partnered with the National Trust to sponsor the Summer of Play programme, which they've set up to get more children playing outdoors. As part of that, there's a Pokémon TCG sticker booklet to collect on-site, where you can pick up five different Pokémon stickers. If you've got kids who're into Pokémon, that's a nice extra to work into the day.

The trail is free, though normal admission charges for the venue still apply — it's free for National Trust members. It runs on 18 July and over 50 other dates from May to September, so if that particular Saturday doesn't work, you've got plenty of other options to choose from.
