Summer Family Masterclass

York's Chocolate Story is running a Summer Family Masterclass this summer, with sessions starting on 20 July and continuing through to 4 September. It's a family chocolate-making workshop led by an expert chocolatier, and the whole thing is held on the ground floor of the venue. If you've got kids and want something to do together over the holidays, this is exactly that: a proper hands-on session where you actually make things rather than just watching.

The class is built around learning the secrets of how chocolate is made, and you'll spend the session making your own sweets to take home. There's a fair bit to get through: you'll decorate a chocolate ice lolly with summer flower designs, write your name into a chocolate bar, and create a summer-themed chocolate plaque. You'll also fill and roll summer-flavoured truffles, and to finish it all off, there's a cup of hot chocolate for everyone. It's a good spread of different things to make, so you're not just doing one thing over and over.

It's aimed at families with children, and it's recommended for ages four and up. If your kids are under fifteen, they'll need to be accompanied by a paying adult, and everyone who takes part needs their own ticket. The sessions start at 16:15 (2:15 pm) and run for about an hour and a half, which is a decent length for a family activity without dragging on too long. Just a heads-up on the venue: the experience is on the ground floor and isn't accessible for wheelchair users.

Tickets are £37.50 for adults and £37.50 for children, and you'll need to book in advance. With the sessions running from 20 July right through to 4 September, you've got plenty of dates to choose from across the summer.
