SpeedQuizzing at The Black Bull

SpeedQuizzing is back at The Black Bull on Sunday 12 July, starting at 8:30pm. If you've never come across it, it's a bit different from your usual pub quiz: instead of scribbling answers on a piece of paper and handing them in at the end, you use a keypad to enter your answers in real time. The faster you get it right, the more points you score, so it's as much about quick thinking as it is about what you actually know.

This one is hosted by Steve Quizzing, who'll be running the night. The format keeps things moving, with the questions coming one after another rather than in long rounds, so there's not much sitting around waiting for the next set to start. It's the kind of thing that works well if you're going with a group of friends — you can pool your knowledge and see who among you is the quickest on the trigger.

The Black Bull is on Hull Road, just out of the city centre, so it's an easy enough spot to get to if you're coming from York or nearby. The quiz kicks off at 8:30pm on the Sunday, which is a decent time to get a few drinks in before things get competitive. Entry is £1.50 per player, so it's a cheap enough night out even if you're bringing a whole team along.
