Say Owt Showcase

Say Owt are taking over the Studio at York Theatre Royal on Friday 23 October, and this one's a bit different from their usual nights. For those who haven't come across them, Say Owt is a York institution that's been bringing the biggest names and best new talent from the poetry and spoken word scene to audiences here for more than ten years. They describe themselves as a 'gobby gang', and they've spent years packing out The Crescent and playing the Edinburgh Fringe. They've also been Highly Commended in the York Culture Awards, so they've got a fair bit of local history behind them.

This particular show is part of The Old Paint Shop season, which transforms the Studio into a cabaret club with unreserved seating. That means you just turn up and find a spot rather than booking a specific seat, and the whole room is set up as a club rather than a traditional theatre. It's a good fit for a night that brings together poetry, music and comedy on one bill.
