A high-octane musical featuring more than 20 iconic Queen hits, presented by Pick Me Up Theatre.
Pick Me Up Theatre are bringing We Will Rock You to the Grand Opera House in York, with the run starting on 23 November and continuing through to 29 November 2026. It's a jukebox musical built around Queen's songs, and if you know the band, you'll recognise the set list pretty quickly.
There are more than 20 Queen hits in the show, including 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'We Are the Champions', 'Somebody to Love', 'Don't Stop Me Now', and the title track itself. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where individuality is outlawed and music is controlled by algorithms. Two young revolutionaries defy the system to save rock 'n' roll, and the songs are woven into that plot rather than just played as a concert. It's described as a celebration of the power of music and individuality.
Pick Me Up Theatre is the company behind it, and they're the same creative team that worked on Nativity! The Musical and Bugsy Malone. We Will Rock You has run in various forms around the world, and this is their production of it coming to York for the week.
