Weekly community running event for all ages at York Racecourse.
York ParkRun is back at York Racecourse this Saturday 15 August, part of the weekly run that goes off every Saturday morning. If you've never done one, it's a timed 5k run on a course that's flat and accessible, and it's open to everyone regardless of pace โ you'll find people sprinting for a personal best alongside those who'd rather walk it.
The start is at York Racecourse, YO23 1EX, and you'll want to head for the Cherry Lane/Tadcaster Road side, opposite the Grandstand. It's a good spot to get your bearings before the start, and having the racecourse as a backdrop puts the whole thing in a bit of a different light than your usual morning jog. The course itself is a 5k loop, so you're not far from where you started for long.
Because it's a weekly thing, it's as much about the community as the running. You'll see a mix of regulars who've been coming for years and newcomers turning up for their first one. It's free to take part, and you don't need to be a runner to get involved โ walking is just as welcome as running, and there's no pressure to keep up with anyone but yourself. If you're thinking of joining in, it's worth checking the official parkrun site to register and get your barcode sorted beforehand, as that's how they track your time.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in York and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
