Weekly community 5k run event held on the tarmac paths at York Racecourse every Saturday morning.
ParkRun York is back at York Racecourse this Saturday, 18 July, for another weekly 5k. It's a community run, so you'll find people from all over the city turning up, whether they're chasing a personal best or just out for a bit of fresh air and a chat.
The distance is a full 5,000 metres, and the whole thing takes place on tarmac paths around the racecourse. Because it's on tarmac, it's a steady surface underfoot, which makes it as much about the pace as the place. It's a timed event, but there's no pressure to race it โ you can run, jog, or walk the whole way at whatever speed suits you.
It's a free event, so there's nothing to pay to take part. The start is at 9am, and it runs every Saturday morning, so if you miss this one, there's another the following week. It's a good way to get your Saturday moving early, and since it's a community thing, you'll likely see the same faces becoming regulars over time.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in York and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

One practical thing to keep in mind: the start is at York Racecourse, YO23 1EX, on the Cherry Lane and Tadcaster Road side, opposite the Grandstand. It's worth checking the latest updates on Facebook or parkrun.org.uk before you head out, just in case there are any last-minute changes or cancellations. Otherwise, it's a free 5k on tarmac paths, starting at 9am.
