Night of the Werewolves Live comes to Theatre@41 on Friday 10 July, and it's not your usual night at the theatre. It's an interactive comedy horror show where you're not just watching from the stalls — you're part of the game. The whole thing is built around the cult-classic party games Werewolves and Mafia, so if you've played those with friends, you've got the basic gist. The premise is a quiet 16th-century village rumoured to be infested with werewolves, and the villagers have to root them out before they're all devoured. The twist is that you're one of those villagers.
Once the game starts, it's a round-table experience. You'll be conspiring, debating, accusing, and — here's the brutal part — voting to murder your fellow audience members to figure out who the werewolves are. It's as much about the social game as it is about the story: reading people, lying to your neighbours, and trying to convince the room that you're the one telling the truth. If you've seen The Traitors on TV, that's a good shorthand for the kind of atmosphere they're going for — the same mix of suspicion and bluffing, just played out live in a room full of strangers.
