A popular show featuring private collections of cars, trucks and armoured vehicles, reenactors and militaria stalls at the Yorkshire Air Museum.
The Military Vehicle Show returns to the Yorkshire Air Museum on Sunday 30 August. It's a regular fixture for the museum, and if you've been before, you know the drill: private collections of cars, trucks and armoured vehicles parked across the site, with reenactors to chat with and militaria stalls to browse. Jerry Ibbotson from the museum says it "perfectly complements our collection of aircraft and has always been hugely popular with visitors", and describes it as "a great way to see August out with a bang".
If you're not familiar with the museum itself, it's based at Elvington, just outside York. The aviation collection there is a good mix of the real deal and some replicas with their own stories. There's a Blackburn Mercury Monoplane replica built for Yorkshire Television in 1979 for the Edwardian drama Flambards, and an Avro 504K replica built by apprentices at RAF Halton that appeared at the Royal Tournament in 1968, later refurbished for the Somme Centenary commemoration at Thiepval. The vehicle show sits alongside that, so you've got the aircraft in the hangars and the cars and armoured vehicles out on the ground.

The museum opens at 10am, and the show runs throughout the day on 30 August at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, York.
