Meat Loud

Meat Loud are playing the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in Clifton on Sunday 23 August, from 19:00 to 22:00. It's a tribute to Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman, and the set is built around the 1977 album Bat Out of Hell, which they play in its entirety.

Around that, they pull from the wider Meat Loaf back catalogue for the fan favourites, and they also bring in songs Jim Steinman wrote for other artists. That means you'll hear things he did for Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion and Cher, alongside the Meat Loaf material. If you know the album, you'll recognise the core of it, but there's a fair bit more to the night than just that one record.

Meat Loud is a duo. Andy Plimmer fronts the show under the name Meat Loud, and he's joined by Sally Rivers, a vocal coach to the stars. They formed in 2018 and have been working through Meat Loaf's rock-operatic canon ever since. The whole thing is staged as part of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company's fundraising programme, so it's one of the nights they put on to raise money for their work.

It runs from 19:00 to 22:00 on Sunday 23 August at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in Clifton, York.
