A fun and friendly dance event for toddlers and their grown-ups, featuring movement, stories, and creative play led by York Dance Space.
Leaps and Bounds is back at York Theatre Royal this autumn, a dance series for toddlers and their grown-ups that runs on Thursday mornings from 24 September right through to 3 December. It's led by York Dance Space, and they describe it as a fun and friendly introduction to dancing, so it's designed for the little ones to get moving with you by their side.
The sessions are built around exploring movement together, and they pull from a few different places to keep things fresh: a variety of dance styles, stories, creative play, and a good bit of imagination. It's less about following a strict routine and more about letting the kids play with how they move, with you right there in the mix. If you've got a toddler who can't sit still, this is exactly the kind of thing they're made for.
On the practical side, it's a morning thing, so you'll want to come prepared. They suggest wearing comfy clothes you can move in and bringing a water bottle. Dancing in bare feet is encouraged, though socks are fine too. The sessions take place in the Upper Foyer at York Theatre Royal, and if you're arriving with a buggy, you can leave it in the YTR foyer.
