Interactive, audience-led immersive theatre experience set in Viking-occupied Eoforwic, staged inside the historic Barley Hall.
Jorvik Immersive Theatre is taking over Barley Hall for a few nights this summer, with performances on 2nd July, 6th August and 27th August, all starting at 7:30pm. It's an interactive, audience-led show, and the venue is part of the draw: Barley Hall is a genuine medieval townhouse in the city centre, so you're inside a real piece of York's history rather than a purpose-built theatre.
The show drops you into the heart of Viking-occupied Eoforwic, at a moment when the Great Army has claimed victory and the feasting hall is alive with celebration. From there, it's an interactive, audience-led performance, and the cast involves you directly. Because of that, no two shows ever turn out the same — what happens depends on how the room reacts, so if you go with a group, you'll likely see something different from what anyone else experienced. It's designed as an adults' evening out, so it's more of a night out with friends than a family afternoon.
