Jon Ronson: Enter The Castle

Jon Ronson is coming to the Grand Opera House York on Wednesday 16 September, with his new live show Enter The Castle. It's built around his latest book, The Castle, which is his first published work in eleven years, so there's a fair bit of new ground to cover.

The show isn't just Ronson on stage telling a story; he brings it to life with footage and online clips, some of which have disappeared from the internet since they first surfaced. The whole thing starts from a personal place: his son was drawn to a mysterious castle in the woods of New England, and from there Ronson follows the trail into mystery, crime, and the lives of displaced men. It's that classic Ronson move—taking a strange, specific hook and pulling on the thread until it opens up into something much larger.

If you're not familiar with his work, Ronson is a bestselling author known for The Psychopath Test and for poking around the odd edges of human behaviour—public shaming, psychopaths, and the modern moral panics that grip us. Louis Theroux described the show as "ridiculously compelling and wonderfully strange," and The Castle as "classic Ronson: wise, timely and extremely funny."

There's more to the night than the main story, too. He'll give a preview of the next season of his podcast Things Fell Apart, and the show ends with a Q&A where you can put questions directly to him. It's recommended for ages 14 and up, and tickets range from £14.00 to £58.50. The show starts at 19:30.
