A closed workshop session for 18-35 year olds to engage in creative activities facilitated by a bereavement practitioner.
York Theatre Royal is hosting a closed workshop for 18–35 year olds on Tuesday 28 July, part of the Grief Cafe series. It's a creative session for people who have experienced bereavement, run by the Futureproof team — a group of creatives brought together by the theatre to look at how people connect with theatre and where it's heading.
The session is set up as a gentle, supportive space where you can explore art, music, and theatre at your own pace, with no pressure to produce anything in particular. It's led by Stef Bricklebank, a bereavement practitioner who works with young people in York. She's joined by Jem, who also leads the sessions and comes to it from personal experience of loss, and Eleanor, a York-based artist and performer whose work blends fantasy and traditional folk stories. Eleanor will be on hand to help people get stuck into things like writing poetry or making puppets.
Because it's a closed workshop, it's meant to be a quiet, focused environment rather than a big open event. If you're not quite ready for that, there's also a separate, relaxed drop-in session scheduled for 11 July. Between the two, you can choose the one that feels right for you.
