Hands-on masterclass making festive chocolate truffles at the historic York Cocoa Works.
York Cocoa Works is running a Festive Chocolate Truffle Making Masterclass on Thursday 12 November, one of several seasonal workshops they're putting on as part of their winter programme. The venue is a working chocolate manufactory in the heart of York, the city that calls itself the 'Chocolate City' and is home to some of the world's most famous chocolate bars and brands. They describe themselves as following in the footsteps of York's pioneering chocolate makers, and their masterclass series takes visitors on the journey from cocoa bean to chocolate bar, covering tempering, ganache and fillings like caramels and fondants.
The truffle class is part of a festive line-up that turns the usual workshops seasonal, with a chocolate Christmas tree, a sparkling star and a chocolate cottage running alongside it. The sessions are hands-on, so you'll be doing the work yourself rather than just watching, and they're suitable for adults and children from age five, which makes it an easy one to bring the kids along to if you're planning a family day out. Beyond the classes, they also offer a chocolate manufactory tasting journey and group bookings.
