Dermis and Gypsum

Peter Davis is bringing his exhibition Dermis and Gypsum to the Art of Protest Gallery on Walmgate, running from 18 September to 7 October. It's part of Art You Can Hear, a show that looks at the link between music and visual art, and it runs alongside the annual global Band T-Shirt Day.

Inside, the connection is worked through a mix of paintings, limited-edition prints and artist-designed T-shirts. The T-shirts aren't just merchandise; they're part of the exhibition itself, sitting alongside the paintings and prints rather than as a separate shop at the end. It's a good way to see how the same ideas can move from a canvas to a print and then onto something you can actually wear.

If you're more of a gallery-goer than a T-shirt collector, there's plenty to look at without the clothing. The paintings and prints take up the bulk of the show, so you can spend as much time as you like with the visual side of things. The T-shirts just add another layer to the mix.

There's a private view on 17 September from 7pm to 9pm, the night before the exhibition opens to the public. After that, the show runs from 18 September to 7 October at the Art of Protest Gallery on Walmgate.
