A charity weekend with artwork for sale to support Dementia UK, held across Lucy Pittaway's galleries.
Lucy Pittaway is hosting a charity weekend across her galleries on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, with the York gallery as one of the venues. It's part of a year-long partnership between Lucy Pittaway Ltd and Dementia UK, the charity she chose after seeing the impact of dementia on her own loved ones. The whole weekend is built around artwork for sale, so if you've been thinking about a piece for your wall, this is a good time to do it.
Most of the sales go to the cause: 5% of all artwork sold, except for We Will Remember Them, is donated to Dementia UK. There's also a specially created piece called There For Ewe, and 10% of sales from that one go to the charity. It's set in a peaceful Yorkshire landscape and gathers the artist's signature sheep characters under a rising sun, surrounded by colourful wildflowers. Pittaway says it draws on themes of connection, compassion and togetherness.
If you're not familiar with the charity, Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nursing charity that supports families through its network of Admiral Nurses. The partnership is a year-long one, so this weekend is one of several ways the studio is working with them.

It's not just York, either. The charity weekend runs across all of Lucy Pittaway's galleries, so if you're closer to Richmond, Yarm or Keswick, you can find it there too. The galleries are open on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October.
