A hands-on workshop where participants learn to make their own Christmas chocolate bars using the company's own chocolate and seasonal flavours.
York Cocoa Works is running its Christmas chocolate bar making workshops from 12 November 2026 through to 6 January 2027, so there's plenty of room to fit one in before the holidays. It's held at their site on 10 Castlegate, right in the city centre.
The session starts with the basics: where cocoa comes from and how chocolate is actually made on site. From there you move on to the practical bit, learning how to work with tempered chocolate before moulding, flavouring and decorating your own bar. You'll use their own white, milk and dark chocolate along with seasonal flavours, so you can tailor it to what you fancy. It's a hands-on thing, and you walk away with a bar you've made yourself.
It helps to know where you're doing it. York Cocoa Works is a working chocolate manufactory in the heart of York, the city that gave the world some of its most famous chocolate bars and brands. It's a women-owned business that describes itself as following in the footsteps of York's pioneering chocolate makers. They run as an open and transparent factory, with hands-on activities in the Chocolate Academy and tasting experiences in the open spaces, each with its own chocolate tutor and private table.

If you're looking for something larger than a single session, they also take Christmas party bookings for families and teams. The workshops cost £26.50 per participant, and they run from 12 November 2026 right through to 6 January 2027.
