A guided tasting experience led by WSET-educated expert Emma Moore, featuring 10 different beers paired with crisps and artisan cheese, including a beer-themed quiz.
Beer, Crisps & Cheese Tasting Experience is coming to York Distillery on two dates this autumn: Thursday 13 August and Thursday 12 November, both running 7:00pm to 9:00pm. It's a guided tasting that does exactly what the title says, pairing ten different beers with crisps and artisan cheese.
Leading the night is Emma Moore, a WSET-educated beer expert. The tasting works its way through ten pours, starting with crisp lagers, moving through hoppy IPAs, and finishing with rich stouts. Each beer is paired with a specific crisp and a bit of artisan cheese, and Moore talks you through why those particular flavours work together. The beers are mostly from breweries in the North, and the whole thing is set up to be as much about learning as it is about drinking—you'll come away with a better handle on the different styles and a bit more confidence when talking about them.
There's a beer-themed quiz mixed in too, with a prize to be won, so it's not just sitting and sipping for two hours. It's designed to be a relaxed, social evening rather than a formal class, and since it's in York—a city often called the beer capital of the UK—it feels like a fitting place for it.
