An afternoon of champagne tasting led by wine expert Emma Moore, featuring paired snacks, nibbles and a sparkly cocktail.
Emma Moore is hosting a champagne tasting at York Distillery on Sunday 8 November, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Moore is a WSET-educated expert who goes by 'The Wine Lady', and she'll be leading the whole session herself.
The tasting is built around a flight of sparkling wines she's curated for character, craftsmanship and story. It's not just the big names you'll find on a supermarket shelf; she's bringing in rarer blends, small-house producers and styles that don't usually make it onto a standard menu. Between the glasses, she'll explain how champagne is actually made and how to taste it like a professional, talking through the flavours, aromas and textures that usually go unnoticed unless you know what to look for. It's the kind of thing that makes you think about what you're drinking rather than just sipping it.
There's a bit more to it than just the wine, too. You'll start with a welcome sparkly cocktail, and the tasting is paired with crisps, nibbles and cheese to keep you going. It's a proper afternoon of it, rather than a quick drink and a chat.
