An evening of short mountain adventure films from the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival, featuring extreme journeys and captivating cinematography.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour comes to York Barbican on Friday 29 January 2027, starting at 7:30pm. It's a single evening of short films, all gathered from the festival's latest collection, so you get a good few stories in one sitting rather than just one long feature.
The films themselves are all about the outdoors and the people who head into it. The festival describes the collection as being full of extreme journeys, untamed characters and captivating cinematography, and it brings together some of the world's top adventure filmmakers and thrill-seekers. You'll see them climb, ski, paddle and ride into the wildest corners of the planet, so it's a fair mix of different environments and activities rather than just one thing. The festival itself is billed as the world's most prestigious mountain festival, and the screening is rounded off with free prize giveaways.
